Christian Louboutin, Exhibition[niste]
At the age of barely 12, Christian Louboutin started drawing his first shoes inspired by the architectural and ornamental beauty of the Palais de la Porte Dorée. It is therefore only natural that the rooms of this magnificent Art Déco building that saw the birth of his vocation, now houses a completely original exhibition devoted to the career of the creator of the iconic red sole.
Christian Louboutin: the Exhibition is an invitation to discover Christian Louboutin’s rich universe filled with his passion for travel and for the worlds of pop culture, theatre, dance, literature and cinema. In revealing all these inspirations, the exhibition showcases a selection of the most precious works from Louboutin’s personal collection and loans from public collections, some of which have never been exhibited, and others that resulted from exclusive collaborations.
These magnificently displayed artistic and heritage pieces converse with stained glass panels created by the Maison du Vitrail, a Sevillian silver palanquin and a cabaret sculpted in Bhutan, as witnesses to the artist’s admiration for craftsmanship and skill. The exhibition will also unveil collaborations, never seen before, with artists who are important to him: the director and photographer David Lynch, the New Zealand multimedia artist Lisa Reihana, the British designer duo Whitaker Malem, the Spanish choreographer Blanca Li, and the Pakistani artist Imran Qureshi, amongst others.
An exhibition not to be missed!
