Ca' d'Oro: Masterpieces of the Renaissance in Venice
For its third temporary exhibition at the Hôtel de la Marine, the prestigious Al Thani Collection welcomes an exceptional selection of artworks from the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro in Venice, which is currently being renovated.
More than 70 masterpieces by the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance** have made the trip to the heart of Paris, including Andrea Mantegna's "Saint Sebastian ", the heart of the museum's collection, which will leave the "Ca' d'Oro ", the Golden House, one of the most majestic palaces built in the 15th century on the banks of the Grand Canal in Venice, for a few months to join the place de la Concorde.
This ultimate and most spectacular work of the artist is usually housed in a marble chapel specially built by Baron Franchetti in the 19th century and placed on an altar that emphasises its isolation.
Medals by Pisanello and Gentile Bellini, paintings by Tintoretto, Paris Bordon and Titian, sculptures by Tullio Lombardo, Jacopo Sansovino, Andrea Riccio and Alessandro Vittoria… complete this exceptional presentation.
