L’île de loisirs Vaires-Torcy

There’s no need to venture more than thirty minutes from the capital to enjoy a breath of fresh air. For seasoned athletes and families alike, the Vaires-Torcy leisure island is a hotspot for outdoor activities. Almost every sport is available in this 350-hectare park, including hiking, golf, boating, horseriding, fitness, squash, canoeing, kayaking… and the list goes on. There’s a swimming area where children and adults can practise their strokes, or race down the slides of the aquapark… Unless you’d rather spread your towel on the beach and soak up the sun with a good book.

But what the Vaires-Torcy leisure island is best known for is its immense lake which was developed in 2019 to create a nautical stadium that officially hosts the French Rowing and Canoe & Kayak Federations. The town is proud of this sports centre of excellence which is to fly the Olympic flag during the Games next August, when local residents and tourists will flock here to enjoy a historic sporting event.
