Thoiry Lumières Sauvages
You don’t have to fly and travel all over the world to think you’re in China! From October to March 2019, more than 600 lanterns light up at nightfall to transport you into a dreamlike world at the Thoiry ZooSafari. Imported directly from traditional Chinese culture, lanterns spread over the 6 hectares of the botanical garden represent spectacular animals, insects and plants. Discover an extraordinary animal world thanks to these unique creations made of metal and fabric rods and entirely handmade.
From the beginning of the tour, a reproduction of the Château de Thoiry made of gigantic lanterns welcomes you. The luminous sculptures of Chinese vases, peonies and dragons echo the works of art preserved in the castle for more than two centuries. Further on, a 65-metre dragon stands beside a 17-metre-high temple that will dazzle the whole family! The journey continues with the discovery of sumptuous exotic birds, large mammals and fantastic animals.
These Wild Lights are also the opportunity to attend events offered by the Sichuan theatre, founded more than 5 centuries ago. Its troupe of tightrope walkers, acrobats and facial transformers will immerse you in the art of Chinese performing arts!
Note that access to the lanterns is included in your entrance ticket for the ZooSafari.
