This retrospective is the first large-scale, monographic exhibition in France devoted to the genius of El Greco (Domenikos Theotokopoulos, 1541-1614).
Rediscovered by the European avant-garde as the 19th century gave way to the 20th, El Greco’s work ‒ both fleeting and electrifying ‒ combines tradition and innovation in a humanist spirit at the dawn of the Spanish Golden Age.
