Canny shoppers know all about La Piscine, the chain of stock shops that sell items from past collections at reduced prices. The story began in 2005 when the company opened its first outlet store for men and women around the corner from the Hôtel Lutetia in the unique décor of a former swimming pool (hence the name), that today is occupied by Hermès’ incredible Left Bank boutique.
Crowds of customers from all walks of life rushed in to buy luxury brands at affordable prices. And, since then, new La Piscine boutiques have flourished in Paris’s most stylish neighbourhoods including the Marais, Montmartre, Saint-Germain-des-Prés and even the Champs-Élysées.
First in, best dressed
La Piscine’s store on the prestigious Place des Victoires – a haven for upscale fashion and local designers – is a chic white space that stocks everything from clothes and accessories to shoes and leather goods for men and women at budget prices. The golden rule: visit early and visit often, because new arrivals are frequent and the best pieces go quickly.
Treasures you might find include, for example, grey-leather stilettos by Maison Margiela, wallets by Armani or Versace, wedge-heeled suede sandals by Dolce & Gabbana, women’s cargo pants by Ermanno Scervino or a summer dress from Collection Privée.
