The gift of a Château

Imagine a fairy-tale castle with all the illuminations and special entertainment you need for an enchanted trip the whole family can enjoy. Until 23 December, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte has been transformed into a palace of vintage toys, with real wood fires in the fireplaces and the evocative smells and tastes of Christmas helping to create a magical and timeless atmosphere.

Once upon a time there was… Christmas at Breteuil

From 22 December to 6 January, the Château de Breteuil is combining the delights of Christmas and Perrault’s fairy tales. Special readings and guided tours of the castle transport you to the land of Cinderella, Donkey Skin and Bluebeard. Kids who want to try their hand at sewing can leave with a pixie hat, fairy’s tutu or prince’s cape that they’ve made themselves. A fabulous adventure for the whole family!

Downton Abbey in Champs-sur-Marne

Step back in time at the Château de Champs-sur-Marne. It’s the late 19th century and the owners are preparing to celebrate Christmas surrounded by their guests and domestic servants. But an unforeseen event upsets the household’s carefully prepared plans. On 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 December, over 700 volunteers, actors, extras, dancers and singers take you into an enchanting world with this immersive show that guarantees festive celebrations with a charmingly retro feel.

A kind-hearted monster

Could any setting be finer than a château? The former royal residence at Fontainebleau invites you on a journey, from 23 December to 5 January, to rediscover the tale of Beauty and the Beast. Bring the whole family to enjoy a captivating show full of magic and mystery.

Illuminated beasts

Until 10 March, almost 600 giant handmade Chinese lanterns light up the sky in the garden at the Château and ZooSafari in Thoiry. This wonderfully jubilant display features insects, large mammals, birds and Chinese vases. The highlights of this sparkling installation are a 65-metre dragon and monumental temple. An entrancing sight for young and old!

Versailles, tout simplement royal !

Le soir venu, alors que le château s’est vidé de ses visiteurs, le Parcours du Roi vous mène de la Galerie des Glaces aux Grands appartements en compagnie d’acteurs et de musiciens baroques costumés. Une visite-spectacle pour découvrir le château autrement ! La musique et la danse contemporaines s’invitent cette année sous les dorures de l’Opéra Royal.

Avec Les Fantômes de Versailles, John Corigliano revisite avec maestria l’histoire du château et de ses illustres occupants. Cet opéra créé à New-York dans les années 90, est joué pour la première et unique fois en Europe, à Versailles. Immanquable!

Les danseurs du Ballet Prejlocaj défient quant à eux les lois de la pesanteur avec Gravité. Ils nous offrent un spectacle tout en grâce et légèreté et une soirée de la Saint-Sylvestre à nulle autre pareille.
