Ballet "La Pastorale
With the Opéra Royal de Versailles as its setting, "La Pastorale ", this sublime ballet by Thierry Malandain takes its theme from Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, whose manuscript epigraph we know: Pastoral Symphony, or Souvenir of Rustic Life, rather expressed emotion than descriptive painting ", translating the composer's ardent love of nature: *I am so happy when I can wander through the woods, the coppices, the trees, the rocks! No man loves the countryside as much as I do.
Thierry Malandain's "La Pastorale", a praise of nature and sensuality
In this masterpiece of sensitivity, created as a tribute to the composer's 250th birthday, the song of the birds meets the thunder of the storm, and the peasant dances intermingle with the sound of the torrential river. Thierry Malandain has created a resolutely innovative work in which classical movement is combined with contemporary dance steps. He succeeds in sublimating Beethoven's work with a powerful and abstract choreography that juxtaposes lyrical moments with others that are much more intimate.
The bodies embrace each other fiercely and unbind, playing with space and space in an artistic perfection that evokes Hellenic antiquity.
A magnificent framework for an ambitious choreography, a romantic firework display for the 22 dancers of the Malandain Ballet Biarritz!
